This year, TESLA MOTORS inaugurated an office in Romania (see link). Until now, on the TESLA map, Romania was listed in “Europe-Other countries”, meaning noname. We are happy with TESLA’s presence with electric cars and superchargers in Romania. That is why we hope that the ones below will be of interest.
In 1973, Icpe laid the foundations of the first Romanian research in the field of electric mobility. At Icpe, known as the “Icpe-Institutul de Cercetări Electrotehnice” is founded the first team to develop the field of electric mobility at the national level. A project with such interesting achievements that it was documented by the BBC (see video). In the team formed at Icpe they carry out their activity and there are inventors who put Romania on the map of world research, among them we list personalities such as: Justin Capră and Sigismul Sleiher. In the ’80s, the head of the ELECTRIC MACHINES laboratory from Icpe came to work, in Bd. Tudor Vladimirescu, with an electrically transformed motorcycle, with a motor with disc rotor and driver, designed at Icpe.
The tradition continues!
After the 2000s, Icpe founded the Association for promotion electric vehicles in Romania – AVER, a non-profit organization, which immediately became the first and only image vector for promoting electric mobility at the national level. AVER, through the support of Icpe, becomes in 2015 the only entity in Romania member in the “European Association for electromobility – AVERE and implicitly in the World Association of Electric Vehicles – WEVA.
Icpe, coagulating the general interest for the promotion of the field, in elite national or international consortia, continues the persistent promotion of the electric vehicle with a series of achievements for the first time for Romania. In 2002, it carried out a thermal-electric conversion on a Dacia variant, in which regenerative braking was implemented, an innovative system used today in the structure of all series electric vehicles and an electric-hybrid propulsion system for an off-road vehicle. In 2004, in collaboration with the “Politehnica” University of Bucharest and the Subansamble Auto Pitești group, it carried out the thermal-electric conversion for a Dacia Solenza, being the first Romanian electric car with a range of over 150 km capable of driving on public roads, with approval RAR. In 2006 Icpe, together with the battery manufacturer “CARANDA BATERII” realizes the electric propulsion system of a Mercedes Sprinter minibus, with a battery mounted on an interchangeable drawer in only 10 minutes, implementing for the first time the BATERY SWAP technology. In 2008, Icpe built the electric propulsion system for a catamaran, with additional energy input from a photovoltaic system, for the Danube Delta biosphere reserve. A few years later, the first thermal-electric conversion of a 1968 vintage Volkswagen Beetle, an ecological solution for vintage cars, whose spare parts are difficult to procure, is made for the first time in Romania. The project was a huge success and was popularized on all media channels (see link).
Icpe specialists have been supporting for many years the master’s course for ELECTRIC MOBILITY at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of UPB and at the end of four decades of pioneering activity in the field of electric mobility, Icpe, through the most titled technical publishing house in Romania – ELECTRA supported the publication of the book “Electric and hybrid cars. V. Racicovschi, G. Danciu, M. Chefneux ”( see book link), the authors, directly involved in the research activity in the field of electric mobility have managed to structure a compendium of all Icpe and Romanian achievements in connection with the electric vehicle.
Started with 2001, Icpe and AVER organized the first scientific conference in Romania dedicated to electric mobility, the second edition being already popularized in the prestigious online publication EVWorld.com (Romanians Host EV-2002 Conference). Reached at the 13th edition, the conference has become internationally recognized and enjoys the participation of over 300 specialists from the country and abroad in each edition, accompanied by the most complete show of electric vehicles and gadgets in Romania (http://www.evshow.ro), TESLA MOTORS also participated in the latest editions.
Do we need a NATIONAL PROGRAM in the field of electric mobility?
We are waiting for you at EV 2022!
