High performance polymeric insulation for rotary electric machines. Technologies and modeling method

The project main objective is the identification of new methods for investigation of the insulating materials from electric machines and developing new technologies and processes for improving the electrical insulation properties of these materials. The insulating materials represent one of the main component parts of the electric machines that influence the functional parameters of them.

The project consortium proposes the following main objectives: a new method for investigation of the insulating materials from electric machines; to establish the effect of oxidative thermal degradation of the insulating materials, in the presence and/or absence of an effective antioxidant material; to determine the optimal concentration of the antioxidant material or synergetic mix that prevents oxidative thermal degradation of the insulating materials; to improve the insulation properties of the epoxy impregnation material by adding antioxidant additives, polymeric materials and by using new manufacturing technologies.

The project runs from 2013 to 2017.
