The main objective of ICON is to make the manufacturing process of electric motors even more agile, by deploying four TRINITY-originated modules in the shop floor of ICPE. This will lead to other sub-objectives, such as: to increase the level of HRC compared to current situation, to increase productivity in the coils winding step, to save material waste, to bring economic benefits through increased productivity and to achieve social benefits in terms of operators satisfaction.
The improved HRC-process is new to the electric motors manufacture domain, because most winding systems nowadays are either based on non-flexible automation or manual labour; HRC is not possible in the few existing robotic cells for winding, such as that used by ICPE, so increased productivity and operators engagement is hindered by the lack of HRC modules such as those that ICON will deploy. To achieve this goal, the expertise of ICPE in motor manufacture will be coupled to the experience in collaborative robotics of STAM, leading to benefits for both: more agile and productive manufacture for ICPE, new, relevant services with high demand from customers for STAM.
