The electromagnetic device with NdFeB permanent magnet is designed to replace traditional mechanical drive system of the VCB vacuum circuit breakers and DC circuit breakers. It has the following advantages: simple structure, small gauge, a high force in the closed position, high mechanical life and is easy to maintain. This paper presents the modeling, simulation and optimization of electromagnetic device using 2D finite element method.
