Trees and Wood
Fir wood
- Diameter of reconstruction : 160 mm
- Scanning step : 0.4 mm
- Number of projections : 180
Annual rings and also faults occuring inside the investigates cross section may be clearly observed.
The average density determined by means of the tomogram is 475 kg/m3 and by using
laboratory analysis 480 kg/m3.
Poplar
- Diameter of reconstruction : 250 mm
- Scanning step : 0.4 mm
- Number of projections : 180
There are obvious differences between the bark, the internal and the rotted central zone.
The cross section average density determined by means of tomographic method is 685 kg/m3
and by using laboratory analysis 675 kg/m3.
Acacia
- Diameter of reconstruction : 230 mm
- Scanning step : 0.4 mm
- Number of projections : 180
The resulting average density is 865 kg/m3 and that obtained by using a
specialized laboratory is 875 kg/m3.
