Inventing - The ICPE School
Since the setting up of ICPE, the creative force of some researchers such as prof. dr. Alexandru Nicolau, dr. Ștefan Grossu, dipl. eng. Ladislau Șofan, dipl. eng. Romulus Zăroni, dipl. eng. Sigismund Slaiher, prof. dr. Dumitru Felician Lăzăroiu, prof. dr. Florin Teodor Tănăsescu, dipl. chem. Gheorghe Bălășescu, dipl. eng. Ion Dan, dr. Ion Barbu, dipl. chem. Pavel Roman, dr. Mircea Gudumac, dipl eng. Eugen Șofan, and later dr. Cristian Traian Bârcă, dr. Nicolae Vasile, dr. Valer Giurgiu, dipl. eng. Florin Ghiurea, dipl. eng. Gheorghe Olaru etc has contributed to the development of a real school of innovation in ICPE, the institute being the leader of the electrotechnical branch in this field.
During the period 1950-1990 there were registered over 3000 invention applications at OSIM, over 1400 patents being obtained, out of which about 60 were also patented abroad.
The most prolific inventor of the 60’s was dr. Ștefan Grossu, who owned over 215 patents, being the most successful inventor in the Romanian electrotechnics.
It was between 1980-1990 that ICPE obtained 9.5 times more patents compared to the whole former period considered from the setting up of the institute.
