Oriented towards generating knowledge, but especially towards exploring knowledge, developing on varied thematics, the R&D is definitory for ICPE. Thus, on large time intervals, Romanian research in electrotechnics can identify with the scientific activity that took place in ICPE.
The ubiquitous presence of the R&D in ICPE is due to our competent and specialised staff, whilst promoting training in research, a context that will motivate research and developing for a quality infrastructure.
Orientation to the realities of globalization in terms of the statement of research and combining with its own strategy, allows ICPE to conduct research projects in three categories of funding:
- at the request of business partners to solve their specific problems
- under international / national projects and the scientific and technical profile of ICPE
- projects of own research and development, carried out to develop products / technologies from ICPE's portfolio
Aimed at obtaining new products and technologies, the main thematic areas addressed by ICPE in research are:
- special electric machines
- renewable energy and new energy sources
- protection/restoration of the environment
- dedicated equipment
- electric cables
